Retour au fil d'actualité

At his election to the Federal Council, Roger Nordmann sees no problem with two Canton of Vaud representatives in the government. The task of the Federal Council is integration, and the SP faction has kept the field of candidates open for all language regions. It is an old rule that two Federal Councillors should not come from the same canton. Nordmann said on Wednesday before the media in Bern that he is a "pan-Swiss Romand". No member of the government has ever practiced regional politics. He would also accept two German-speaking SP Federal Councillors. If elected, Nordmann acknowledged that he would no longer have time to write books as a federal councillor. However, he said that writing books provides an opportunity for deeper reflection and a holistic approach. He said he would seek to bring this holistic approach if elected, citing his experience as the leader of the SP faction. Nordmann announced his candidacy relatively late, citing the need to let the decision mature. In the state government, however, he wants to move forward. Switzerland can no longer afford to let decisions mature as long as they currently do. There needs to be a new determination and acceleration.
