Retour au fil d'actualité

In the election campaign for the national elections on October 22, the print media printed the most advertisements for the FDP, followed by the Mitte and SP. Compared to 2019, however, the number of political advertisements decreased significantly, with the exception of cantons where political competition increased. In contrast to the 2019 and 2015 elections, the media coverage was less monothematic, according to a statement from Année Politique at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Bern on Thursday. In 2019, climate policy had dominated the campaigns, while in 2015 it was migration. The press reported fairly and representatively according to the voter strength on the parties before the current elections. The researchers at the Bern Institute have been documenting and analyzing the campaigns conducted through newspaper advertisements in the run-up to national referendums and elections since 2013. In 2019, editorial coverage in printed media was added.
