The President of the FMH Medical Association, Yvonne Gilli, has raised the alarm about the lack of medical professionals in Switzerland. She has called for more study places and modern working conditions for younger doctors. Gilli has proposed a 46-hour work week for doctors, as well as improved conditions to keep older doctors in the profession. She has warned of a looming crisis due to the Baby Boomer generation reaching retirement age. She has emphasised the need to reduce the gap between the current and future generations of medical professionals, but has noted that it will take at least ten years for any new doctors to be ready to work.
