Less Livestock Losses Due to Wolves in Switzerland

In Switzerland, livestock attacks by wolves have decreased by 29% compared to the previous year, according to the Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) program "Schweiz Aktuell". By the end of September 2022, 1200 livestock had been killed by wolves in Switzerland, compared to 850 in 2023. The biggest decrease was seen in the canton of Glarus, where 80% fewer livestock were killed compared to the previous year. In Graubünden, the number of attacks decreased by around 50%, and in the cantons of Vaud and Ticino, the numbers were also lower. In summary, the number of livestock killed by wolves in Switzerland has decreased significantly compared to the previous year, with the biggest decrease seen in the canton of Glarus.
