According to a projection by gfs-bern on behalf of SRG, the Swiss People's Party (SVP) is set to gain one of two National Council seats in the canton of Basel-Stadt. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the Green Liberal Party (GLP) and the Green/Basta alliance are expected to retain their seats. 53,502 valid ballots have been counted so far. The GLP is the biggest winner, gaining 3.3% of the votes. The SVP follows with 1.5% more votes, while the Centre and FDP parties both gain 1.0%. The LDP is the only one of the conservative parties to lose votes, with a 4.8% decrease. The Social Democratic Party (SP) also loses 1.0%, and the Green/Basta alliance 0.8%. With the new legislature, the city canton will lose one seat in the National Council, leaving five incumbents to compete for the remaining four seats.
