In the canton of Valais, Switzerland, a second round of voting for the Council of States (Ständeratswahlen) will take place on November 12th. The two current members of the centre-right party, Beat Rieder and Marianne Maret, are leading the polls but have failed to secure an absolute majority. This means that a second round of voting will be necessary to determine the outcome of the election. The second round will take place on November 12th and will involve the two leading candidates, as well as any other candidates who have received at least 5% of the vote in the first round. The winner of the second round will be the candidate who receives the most votes.
