19 National Council members were not re-elected in the elections on Sunday. Some of them are disappointed but still want to contribute to society. Mustafa Atici (SP/BS) was one of them. He said he had to realise his defeat and that it had been a great privilege to represent Basel in the National Council. He does not know why he was not re-elected, but he will continue to fight for the issues he cares about. Natalie Imboden (Stadtberner Grüne) said her non-election was a consequence of the right-wing shift in Switzerland and the narrow fourth seat of the Greens four years ago. She said the Greens had the right answers but the messages had not reached the population. Roland Fischer (GLP) said he was disappointed about his defeat and would have liked to continue in the Financial and Foreign Policy Commissions of the National Council. He attributed the defeat to the decrease in the voter share of the GLP. He said he had achieved a lot in the Foreign and Financial Policy Commissions of the National Council and was unlikely to run again in four years.
