Analysis of Swiss Federal Council Election Sees No Major Change Scenarios

From the perspective of the opinion research institute GFS Bern, no major change scenarios are emerging in view of the upcoming Federal Council elections. Neither the Greens nor the Green Liberals would come close to legitimacy for Federal Council seats, according to an analysis by the institute on Sunday evening. The plan of the center to create a clear seat distance from the green candidate appears to have been successful. The marginal lead of the center over the FDP appears to be too small to unseat an existing federal council. A chancellorship seat as a counter-trade could be a good consolation prize for the center. ©Keystone/SDA
