Three Quarters Want to Keep Notes and Coins

More than 70% of people in Switzerland are against abolishing cash. According to a recent survey conducted by Philoro and the University of St. Gallen, 72% of respondents do not want to give up cash. This is especially true for those over 60, with 90% wanting to keep cash, and those with lower incomes. The survey also found that age and income are key factors in determining attitudes towards cash. Those earning less than 4000 francs a month want to pay in cash 83% of the time, while those earning more than 12,000 francs a month only want to pay in cash 59% of the time. The survey was conducted by the Institute for Marketing and Customer Insight at the University of St. Gallen from August to September, and included 2633 adults from all language regions of Switzerland. The sample is representative according to the study authors. In summary, the survey found that most people in Switzerland are against abolishing cash, with age and income being key factors in determining attitudes towards cash.
