Around 400 people in the West of Switzerland could lose their jobs due to the restructuring of the Post subsidiary Direct Mail Company (DMC). This was announced by union representative Diego Frieden, who is responsible for the social partnership with DMC. The municipality of Bussigny in the canton of Vaud is the most affected, with 200 employees, according to Frieden in an interview with the Freiburger newspaper "La Liberté". The Transfair union expects that 60 people in Freiburg and 150 people in Grand-Lancy GE will lose their jobs. On Wednesday, the Post announced that it will discontinue DMC by 2024, putting 3855 part-time deliverers out of work. The Post has initiated a consultation process with the employees, which will last until November 13th. The unions have demanded an extension of this deadline and that the yellow giant offers all those affected a job within the company.
