Retour au fil d'actualité

At their delegates' meeting on Saturday, the Young Socialists of Switzerland decided not to support any of the six SP candidates to succeed the retiring Federal Councillor Alain Berset. None of them had positioned themselves "for a profound transformation of society", as the Young Socialists demanded.

The six SP candidates, Matthias Aebischer, Evi Allemann, Beat Jans, Daniel Jositsch, Roger Nordmann and Jon Pult, had previously answered questions from the delegates for an hour. Afterwards, they decided almost unanimously not to support a candidacy, according to a statement from the young party.

The Young Socialists also complained about the current nomination process and wanted more democracy in the appointment of candidates. However, if the left does not win a third seat in the Federal Council elections on December 13, the Young Socialists are calling for an immediate withdrawal.
