Today, Monday, eight people will have to answer to the Lucerne Criminal Court for violent crimes. According to the public prosecutor's office, they are alleged to have taken part in a fight between former business partners in Geuensee LU in which one person was stabbed to death.

Around two years ago, there was an altercation between two groups of people in the parking lot of a business in Geuensee. A 37-year-old main defendant allegedly stabbed an unarmed opponent in the heart with a knife. The 20-year-old Kosovar died at the scene. Two other men, armed with a hammer and brass knuckles respectively, are said to have been injured by the accused with the knife.

The public prosecutor's office is asking the criminal court for a conviction for intentional homicide, multiple attempted intentional homicide and roughhousing. According to the indictment, they are requesting a prison sentence of 14.5 years. In addition, the Syrian citizen is to be deported from the country for 15 years.

The accused also include the sister of the main accused, her husband and their son. According to the public prosecutor's office, they are guilty of brawling.

The other defendants are accused of offenses such as attempted murder, assault or roughhousing. These defendants also include the two men whom the main defendant allegedly injured with the knife. They are two brothers.

The dispute arose because the brother-in-law of the man accused of murder had decided to take over a bar in Triengen LU with a colleague - one of the two injured men. He withdrew from the business because of a dispute. Although a financial settlement was reached, his wife did not agree to it.

A meeting was arranged at a petrol station to settle the matter. Both sides brought reinforcements; according to the indictment, one side thought it was trapped and things escalated.

The trial is scheduled to last several days. For reasons of space, it will not take place in the criminal court in Lucerne, but in the St. Martin Center in Hochdorf LU.
