Six new restaurants per year: that is the goal of McDonald's Switzerland boss Lara Skripitsky. Until now, the burger roaster has opened one or two new restaurants each year.
"We have recently opened one to two stores per year. We are now increasing this rate of expansion to five to six a year - including in the cities," said Skripitsky in an interview with the CH Media newspapers (Tuesday edition).
In places with strong population growth, such as Riddes in Valais, they are looking for locations that offer space for a McDrive, says the manager. Restaurants on highways are also "great".
She also commented on the current shortage of skilled workers. McDonald's Switzerland is hardly experiencing this. "We receive an average of 44 applications for every job advertisement," said Skripitsky. Specifically, the fast food giant created 600 (part-time) jobs in Switzerland in 2022.
Meanwhile, McDonald's Switzerland has no plans to launch vegan burgers yet, although competitor Burger King offers customers such products. "There is also a certain demand for them in Switzerland, but it's not huge," said Skripitsky. Demand for vegetarian products, on the other hand, is high.
