The Goncourt of Switzerland 2023 (Choix Goncourt de la Suisse) goes to the French author Neige Sinno for her novel "Triste tigre".

The name of the winner, who has already been awarded the Prix Femina, was announced on Tuesday evening at the French Embassy in Bern in the presence of the President of the Académie Goncourt, Didier Decoin.

In her third novel, the author from the Hautes-Alpes courageously addresses the rapes committed by her stepfather during her childhood.

"It is a strong choice that resonates with the current concerns of youth, a choice of our time, committed and engaging and of course very literary," said French Ambassador Marion Paradas, quoted in the embassy's statement.

The Choix Goncourt now has nine Swiss partner universities or schools, namely the Universities of Bern, Basel, Fribourg, Lausanne, Neuchâtel, St. Gallen, Italian-speaking Switzerland and Zurich, as well as the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ).
