Police publish photo of suspected Sion shooter

Two people were killed and another injured in a shooting in Sion on Monday morning. The Valais cantonal police asked the public for help by publishing a photo of the suspected perpetrator and his name on their website.
The suspected perpetrator could be at the wheel of his car, a gray Peugeot 206 convertible, the police announced on Monday afternoon. They asked people who can provide information about this man to contact the Valais cantonal police operations center. The police also pointed out that this person was dangerous and that under no circumstances should anyone attempt to arrest him themselves or approach him.
The man shot at several people in two different places in Sion shortly before 08.00 a.m. for reasons as yet unknown, according to the Valais police. Two people died and another person was injured. According to initial findings, the perpetrator knew his victims.
A large police force was deployed to search for the man. The cantonal police set up a search and arrest operation as soon as they received the report, according to the press release. The manhunt was still underway on Monday afternoon. The public prosecutor opened an investigation into murder, with a subsidiary charge of intentional homicide.
