Nils Fiechter wants to become President of the Young SVP Switzerland. The 27-year-old former co-president of the JSVP Bern and member of the cantonal parliament was unanimously nominated as a candidate by the general meeting on Wednesday evening. The general elections for the party leadership and the party presidency of the JSVP Switzerland will take place on March 9 in Thun.
Stephanie Gartenmann is being put forward by the JSVP Bern as a candidate for the post of General Secretary of the Young SVP Switzerland, as announced by the JSVP Bern on Thursday.
Fiechter has been co-president of the Young SVP Canton of Bern with Adrian Spahr since 2017. In 2020, Fiechter joined the current party leadership of the Young SVP Switzerland and has been Head of Strategy ever since.
In March last year, the Federal Supreme Court dismissed an appeal by Fiechter and Spahr. The Bernese High Court had sentenced the two to conditional fines for racial discrimination. They are responsible for a drawing that the Junge SVP published on Facebook and on its website before the 2018 cantonal elections.
