At the start of the 4th Ukraine Conference, Ukraine expressed hope that an agreement could be reached on a format for a world peace summit on the war with Russia. "I hope we can find an acceptable solution", said Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president's office, in a speech in Davos GR, according to a press release.
"We need a platform to fix certain parts of our overall plan. In order to move forward, we need to agree on the format of the constituent peace summit," said Jermak. This would make it possible to develop detailed roadmaps for the ten points of the peace plan propagated by Ukraine.
According to Ukraine, representatives from 81 countries and international organizations took part in the fourth meeting. That was 15 more than at the third round of talks in Malta in October 2023.
It is "very encouraging" that the Global South is increasingly participating in the work, Jermak continued. This conflict in Europe is a challenge for all of humanity.
According to the information, Jermak once again rejected a temporary ceasefire with Russia. A simple ceasefire would not end the Russian aggression in Ukraine, but would only give the aggressor a break to gather its strength, Jermak said.
"This is definitely not the way to peace. The Russians don't want peace. They want dominance. So the choice is simple: either we lose and disappear - or we win and live on. And we fight," said Jermak.
A Ukraine conference will take place in Davos on Sunday, just before the WEF. At the 4th so-called peace formula meeting, security advisors from over 80 countries will discuss the future of Ukraine and the so-called Ukrainian peace formula with a ten-point plan for an end to the Russian war of aggression. However, these are not actual peace talks. Russia is not involved.
The main purpose of the conference is to keep Ukraine's allies in line. The results presented by the working groups that discussed the ten principles will be discussed. The next steps are also to be discussed. Switzerland is participating in particular in the working groups on "Nuclear Safety", "Food Security" and "Confirmation of the End of the War".
