Gotthard Base Tunnel closed after vehicle fire at exit

Rail traffic in the Gotthard Base Tunnel has been interrupted until further notice. The reason is a vehicle that caught fire shortly after 8 a.m. on Monday morning at the end of the base tunnel exit near Faido.
29 workers were evacuated by a fire and rescue train, according to the Ticino cantonal police. Ten of them had to be taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation.
