In response to the court's questions, the defendant repeatedly claimed that he could not remember. They had talked about "normal things", the circumstances had been "normal".

The second defendant, a 59-year-old Italian, exercised his right to refuse to testify without exception. The pleas will follow next. The trial is scheduled to last several days. The verdict is expected to be delivered next Monday.

According to the indictment, the accused killed the Egyptian man, who had been living in the canton of Schaffhausen, with several shots on behalf of his now deceased wife. They then allegedly weighed down the body with a concrete element and dumped it in Lake Barchet near Oberneunforn TG.
