For the 26th time, the people and the cantons said yes to a popular initiative on Sunday. In terms of the result, the initiative for a 13th AHV pension supported by trade unions and the left is also one of the top ten.

A total of 230 initiatives have been put to the ballot box since 1893 and up to Sunday. The electorate and a majority of the cantons have so far approved 26 of these referendums, eight of them with a majority of over 60 percent in favor.

The popular initiative "For a better life in old age (initiative for a 13th AHV pension)" received around 58% of the vote on Sunday. This is the ninth-best result for a popular initiative.
