Public transport in Switzerland generated a turnover of around 6.4 billion Swiss francs last year. This corresponds to an increase of 7.2 percent compared to the previous year. The main reason for the increase in turnover is one-way tickets.
28.9 percent of total turnover was achieved through the sale of one-way tickets, the Alliance Swisspass announced on Wednesday. A total of 175 million one-way tickets were sold last year.
The sale of GA travelcards accounted for 21.9 percent of sales, annual season tickets accounted for 9.2 percent and day passes for 9.4 percent. On average, 68 percent of all public transport ticket purchases were processed digitally.
