Pensioner dies in fire in residential building in Hauenstein SO

An elderly man died in a fire in an apartment of a semi-detached house in Hauenstein SO on Tuesday evening. The pensioner died on site despite immediate resuscitation measures, as the Solothurn cantonal police reported on Wednesday.
The fire alarm was received at 7.51 pm, it was reported. In addition to the fire department, paramedics and police, a rescue helicopter was also deployed. Investigations into the cause of the fire and death were initiated immediately, the police added.
