Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin received three organizers of the farmers' protests in Switzerland on Thursday. With a view to the next stage of agricultural policy, the exchange with the younger generation is particularly important to him, Parmelin wrote on Platform X.

"We want to maintain this dialog. The doors are and will remain open," the Minister of Economic Affairs continued. Parmelin showed understanding for the farmers' protests. "I am impressed by how peaceful the actions have been in the face of great economic pressure," he wrote on X.

Last week, hundreds of farmers protested for better working conditions at several locations in western and German-speaking Switzerland. They gathered with tractors and sent out symbolic cries for help. On Wednesday, around 100 farmers also protested for the first time in Ticino. Another farmers' protest is also planned for Saturday in Wolhusen LU. At the protests, the farmers are demanding higher prices for their products and thus higher pay.
