SRG and representatives of ten organizations from the Swiss music industry have signed a new charter, as announced by SRG on Thursday. The aim is to promote Swiss music and young talent and increase their visibility.

According to the press release, the "presence of Swiss music in SRG's programming will now be determined independently of the type of distribution". This means that a distinction is no longer made between linear, as in the case of radio and TV, or digital. The new charter also strengthens the exchange of information about SRG's programming between the various partners.

In the charter, SRG commits to promoting Swiss music throughout its entire program offering, "broadcasting editorial contributions and special programs about Swiss music and playing an active role in promoting Swiss music through partnerships." The previous main objective will thus be continued.

The charter is a cooperation agreement between SRG and the Swiss music industry. Its representatives include the industry association of Swiss music labels IFPI Switzerland, the Interessengemeinschaft Volkskultur (IVG) and the association of independent Swiss labels and producers Indiesuisse.

The new charter was signed at the meeting of the "Swiss Music" dialog body on Thursday, the press release continued. The charter was launched in 2004 and revised for the first time in 2016. In recent years, the proportion of Swiss music broadcast on all SRG radio channels has increased.
