Unknown persons blew up an ATM in Küttigen, north of Aarau, early on Saturday morning. It is not known how much money they stole.

According to the Aargau cantonal police on Saturday, the Raiffeisenbank ATM and the surrounding buildings suffered extensive damage. According to them, several residents had reported hearing a loud bang shortly after 3 am. At the same time, an alarm was raised at the Raiffeisenbank branch on Hauptstrasse.

A manhunt was immediately launched but was initially unsuccessful. According to initial indications, the perpetrators fled in a white vehicle.

In addition to the police and local fire department, specialists from the Zurich Forensic Institute and the Federal Police (Fedpol) were also at the scene. As it is likely to be an explosives offense, the investigation is being led by the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland.

The cantonal police asked for information from the public. Private video surveillance systems that may have recorded suspicious footage at the time of the crime are also of interest.
