New machine on Felsenegg ZH makes climate change visible

Researchers are using a new device to dispel misconceptions about climate change. They have set up the "Iceagecam" on the Felsenegg vantage point in Zurich, which displays ice-age landscapes and the associated changes in a game.
The joint project by researchers from the University of Zurich (UZH), the University of Lausanne (Unil) and the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHDK) was inaugurated on Tuesday, the institutions announced.
The device therefore consists of a screen and two pumps. The pumps are used to change the CO2 content in the atmosphere, which influences the coming and going of glaciers. According to UZH, ice ages are visualized over a timeline of 800,000 years.
"Our aim is to draw attention to this rapid and extreme rise and to illustrate that there have never been such rapid developments in the last million years," said ZH glaciologist Andreas Linsbauer, according to the press release.
The Iceagecam simulations are based on research carried out by UZH and Unil.
