A train and a tractor collided at an unguarded level crossing in the canton of Neuchâtel shortly before midday on Tuesday. There were no injuries.

The train was carrying around 30 schoolchildren, who were able to get off and were taken home by shuttle buses, according to the Neuchâtel cantonal police. The collision at the level crossing at the exit of Les Ponts-de-Martel in the direction of Petit-Martel only resulted in material damage. The tractor had enough time to initiate an evasive maneuver.

Following the accident, a bus service was set up on the affected railroad line in the Neuchâtel Jura. The public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the accident.
