The Valais railroad line between Visp and Zermatt was interrupted for several hours on Saturday due to an acute risk of falling rocks. The section of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway between Kalpetran and St. Niklaus was affected. Replacement buses were used for passengers.
The section of track was closed late in the morning. It was closed to the railroad as a precautionary measure, a railroad spokesperson told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. There was no rockfall.
The railroad company recommended that travelers allow for an additional "time buffer". The line was reopened in the early evening.
