Road to Saas Valley VS remains closed until at least Monday morning

In Valais, the main road between Visp and the Saas Valley vacation region will remain closed until at least Monday morning due to the risk of landslides. Specifically, the stretch between Stalden and Saas-Grund will remain closed, Saastal Tourism announced on Sunday.
The municipality wanted to inform about the closure again on Monday morning. The cantonal road between Stalden and Saas-Grund was threatened by falling rocks and debris flows after heavy rainfall on Saturday and during the night.
However, the road between Saas-Grund and Saas-Almagell was reopened. There was a temporary danger of avalanches there,
There was already a high avalanche risk in the region at the beginning of March. Ski lifts, pistes and winter hiking trails in Saas-Fee were therefore temporarily closed.
The Valais winter sports resort of Saas-Fee lies at 1800 meters above sea level not far from the Italian border. The glacier village is known, among other things, for its proximity to several mountains over 4000 meters high.
