The newly elected President of the Greens, Lisa Mazzone, is approaching her new responsibility "with a great deal of respect". The Greens need to be at the center of the public debate more than ever before, she said after her election in Renens VD. The climate crisis is a crisis of solidarity.

And that is solidarity with future generations and with the Global South. "Those who feel the consequences of climate change particularly strongly have hardly ever benefited from the use of fossil fuels," said Mazzone at the delegates' meeting in Renens VD, according to the speech text.

"We have a responsibility to get involved, to help shape things. We have a desire for the future. We want to change the world, make it fairer, more sustainable and happier," said Mazzone. More solidarity is also needed in Switzerland. Inequalities are growing dangerously here. Too many children are growing up in poverty in a rich country.

She wants to both defend achievements and realize a "profound change". It is the work of the Greens to bring together the progressive forces of change and shape Switzerland, said the new president.
