Double Federal Council presence at the IC Forum on Peace in Basel

President Viola Amherd and Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis will take part in the third International Cooperation Forum (IC Forum) in Basel on Thursday and Friday. The topic of the meeting of representatives from politics, science, business and civil society is the question "What is peace?".
The President of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, will attend the forum as guest of honor, as the Federal Chancellery announced in advance. A bilateral meeting between the President of the Swiss Confederation and the Ethiopian President is planned for Thursday on the fringes of the IC Forum.
At the IC Forum, international cooperation players meet for two days to discuss current issues. The current topic is the question "What is Peace?" ("What is peace?"). Around 1700 participants from over 100 countries have registered.
As part of the IC Forum 2024, three Swiss companies will be honored for "their innovative and significant contribution to peacebuilding", according to a press release. An expert jury assessed the projects submitted and selected three winners, who will be presented with the IC Award by Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis on Thursday.
The IC Forum is organized by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in cooperation with the Peace and Human Rights Division (PHRD) of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER).
