The umbrella organization of the renewable energy and energy efficiency industry (Aeesuisse) elected a new Co-Presidency at its General Assembly on Thursday. The new leaders are National Councillor Priska Wismer-Felder (LU) and Suissetec Director Christoph Schaer.
53-year-old Wismer-Felder has been a member of the National Council for the centrist party since 2019. Schaer has been Suissetec Director since 2019. The two succeed Gianni Operto, who is stepping down from the presidency after eight years, as Aeesuisse also announced. The umbrella organization has grown considerably in recent years and has become the leading umbrella organization for renewable energies and energy efficiency.
Aeesuisse is part of the Alliance for a Secure Electricity Supply, which is campaigning for a "Yes" to the energy decree on June 9. 110 members of the National Council and Council of States have joined the Alliance for a Secure Electricity Supply. According to the Alliance, important business associations, renowned environmental organizations and numerous companies are also represented. The alliance was formed on the initiative of Aeesuisse and the Association of Swiss Electricity Companies.
