Criminal investigation against a prison officer in Ticino

The public prosecutor's office in Ticino has opened a criminal investigation against a prison officer at a cantonal penal institution. The officer has been suspended from his position.
The criminal proceedings were initiated on the recommendation of the Directorate of Penal Institutions, the Ticino government announced on Wednesday.
As in similar cases, the Government Council has initiated a disciplinary investigation. This will be suspended until the initial findings of the criminal authority are available.
