Dutch woman falls to her death while hiking

A 61-year-old Dutch woman died on Thursday during a hike along historic water pipes in Crans-Montana VS. The woman fell several meters down the "Bisse du Ro" for reasons as yet unexplained.
The woman was on the Suonen hike with a companion when the fatal accident occurred, as reported by the Valais cantonal police on Friday. Due to the poor weather conditions, the emergency services were called to the scene by land. Once there, they were only able to determine that the hiker had died, it added.
The public prosecutor's office, in cooperation with the cantonal police, launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
