Retour au fil d'actualité
Thirty artists are part of an experimental exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen BS. The show does not have a constant name, and the works on display also change.
On arrival at the Fondation Beyeler, visitors are immersed in a thick fog that envelops the entrance to the museum and part of the park. Suddenly the fog disappears, only to reappear a few minutes later. An installation by Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya, which transforms the steam into a flowing and ephemeral work of art.
The Fondation's summer exhibition is conceived like a living organism that changes and transforms and is driven by different artistic voices, according to a press release. The highlight: the exhibition is currently called "Dance With Daemons", but the name keeps changing over the course of the summer. The works from the museum's collection, including paintings by Paul Klee, are also constantly being hung up and taken down. The pieces from the collection are thus presented in an original and sometimes surprising way.
Dynamic instead of static
The artistic freedom granted to the artists and speakers encourages multiple visits to this project, which is dynamic rather than static. The aim of the exhibition is to stimulate interdisciplinary exchange and collective responsibility. Among the contemporary artists involved are Zurich-based Peter Fischli, South African painter Marlene Dumas and US video artist Arthur Jafa.
The exhibition was organized by the Fondation Beyeler and the Luma Foundation in collaboration with the 30 artists and numerous other people involved. These included poets, architects and scientists. The exhibition was conceived by the director of the Fondation, Sam Keller, and the Swiss curator Hans Ulrich Obrist, among others, in collaboration with the invited artists.
The exhibition runs from May 19 to August 11.
