After last year's boom, Hotelplan Suisse's summer holiday business is on the decline again. Bookings for beach vacations and city breaks in the summer are currently below the previous year's level.

Although the summer months remain Hotelplan Suisse's busiest travel and sales period, the Migros subsidiary announced to the media in Glattbrugg on Thursday that it was noticing a shift in travel activity towards the spring and fall vacations.

"Last summer, we felt an extreme pent-up demand for vacations abroad. This has now normalized," explained Hotelplan Suisse CEO Nicole Pfammatter. This is also due to the fact that Swiss summers have been very nice and warm in recent years. "Some of our customers spend their summer vacations at home and travel to the warmth in the fall to extend the summer a little longer. Bookings for this year's fall vacations are higher than last year."

However, the Hotelplan Suisse boss expects some customers to book their summer vacations at short notice this year - especially if the weather continues to be so rainy.

In the last financial year, Hotelplan Suisse increased its turnover significantly to CHF 227.7 million, compared with CHF 158.2 million in the previous year.

The entire Hotelplan Group achieved its best result for a long time in 2023. Turnover climbed by 20.6 percent to 1.73 billion francs. The operating profit EBIT climbed by 1 million to 27 million francs.
