The level of Lake Constance fell slightly on Wednesday. The federal government downgraded the warning for Untersee to danger level 4, high risk of flooding. This now applies to the whole of Lake Constance.
The water level of Lake Constance is unlikely to rise any further, the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) wrote on its natural hazards portal on Wednesday. However, the situation around Lake Constance remains tense due to the current high water levels. Lake communities are taking precautions for possible flooding.
The situation was most tense on Untersee, the western part of Lake Constance. The water level there almost reached the highest of five danger levels on Tuesday. It is currently back at danger level 4.
In the villages on Untersee, lakeside promenades, parking lots and garden restaurants were still under water on Wednesday. In Berlingen TG, the cantonal road through the village is still closed because a section around 50 meters long is under water due to the high lake level. Footbridges are guiding pedestrians across the high water, and entrances to houses are secured with sandbags and bricks.
Rain is expected on Saturday
For Wednesday and Thursday, the federal government expects "no relevant amounts of precipitation". A short phase of widespread precipitation is expected in the night to Saturday.
However, the next week will bring summery, mostly sunny and mostly dry weather phases with individual warm thunderstorms in the second half of the day.
