The search for the missing person in the Maggia Valley continued on Monday morning. Due to the storms, which have transported a lot of debris into Lake Maggiore, navigation has been suspended until further notice for safety reasons.
This was announced by the Lake Lugano shipping company on Monday morning.
Work to restore the power lines in the affected area of the Maggia Valley also continued, according to the Ticino cantonal police. On Sunday evening, all 300 participants in the local football tournament in Peccia in the rear Maggia Valley were evacuated.
The upper Maggia Valley was hit hard by a storm on Saturday night. The upper part of the Maggia Valley was only accessible by air after the storms because the Maggia had torn away a bridge near Cevio. Communication was also severely impaired and the water and electricity supply was interrupted.
