A 40-year-old Swiss man has denied having racially insulted young people. He had merely reprimanded them, he told the Hinwil ZH district court on Monday.
The youngsters had repeatedly run across his basketball court, which had disturbed him. One of them then became aggressive towards him, said the 40-year-old. The Swiss man emphasized that there were also dark-skinned people in his family. No man in his 40s would say "nigger", he claimed.
The accused described himself in court as an "08/15" citizen. He had always worked hard and was "blameless". However, he had already had two run-ins with the police - which resulted in two penalty orders.
The 40-year-old is said to have insulted a dark-skinned youth as a "nigger" who should go back to Africa. He also allegedly threatened the teenager with a hammer and gave the Hitler salute in front of a second one.
