Nine kilometers of traffic jam in front of the Gotthard tunnel heading south

Traffic jams formed on the A2 in front of the portals of the Gotthard road tunnel on Friday. Between Erstfeld and Göschenen UR, the traffic jam reached a length of nine kilometers at around 3 pm. The waiting time was one hour and 30 minutes.
This was reported by the TCS traffic service on the short message service X. Vehicles are also queuing in front of the Gotthard south portal in Airolo TI. The length of the traffic jam there was six kilometers at 3 pm.
Switzerland's second important north-south link, the San Bernardino route, was reopened to traffic on Friday morning, albeit with limited capacity. The national road had been closed for two weeks following storms in Misox GR.
