Trailer detaches from truck in Brugg and kills motorcyclist

A motorcyclist was fatally injured in a collision with a trailer in Brugg in the canton of Aargau on Friday afternoon. The trailer had become detached from a delivery van while driving.
The accident occurred at 3.15 p.m. on Friday on Aarauerstrasse, according to the Aargau cantonal police. The detached trailer veered into the oncoming lane and hit a motorcycle on which a 64-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were traveling in the direction of Schinznach-Bad AG.
The emergency services found the two people seriously injured. The man died at the scene of the accident, according to the press release. The woman was taken to hospital. The three occupants of the van were uninjured.
It was not known on Friday evening why the trailer had become detached from the van. The public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the matter.
