The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) condemns the recent attacks on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, which have resulted in damage to the Swiss Foundation for Demining (FSD), among others. It intends to express this position in international bodies.

This is what the FDFA wrote to the Keystone-SDA news agency in a statement on Wednesday's attacks in Kharkiv. Among other things, the office of the Swiss Demining Foundation was severely damaged in these attacks. Attacks against civilian infrastructure are a violation of international humanitarian law, the FDFA also wrote.

It is in contact with the FSD regarding the consequences of the attacks. The NGO is an important partner in the implementation of Switzerland's humanitarian demining program in Ukraine.

At least two people were injured in Russian missile and drone attacks on the large city of Kharkiv and a settlement on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday. One missile also hit an FSD office and caused extensive damage.

According to a statement from the aid organization Fondation suisse de déminage (FSD), the office was hit on Wednesday morning. The foundation's employees escaped with a scare and were unharmed.
