Following last week's homicide in Basel, the University Psychiatric Clinics (UPK) have temporarily suspended admissions. The measure applies until Tuesday, as CEO Michael Rolaz told the media on Monday.

It applies to the protection of patients. The opening of the enforcement is prescribed by law, which is why the UPK must strive for this again afterwards.

The external investigation into the case of the suspect who allegedly killed a 75-year-old woman on an outing on Thursday has not yet been launched, Rolaz continued. Experts from other forensic institutions in Switzerland could be considered for this task.

Before the external investigation, the UPK would already analyze the internal processes, said Henning Hachtel, Director of the Clinic for Forensics at the UPK.
