SGB: Parliament should correct “errors” in 13th AHV financing

The Swiss Federation of Trade Unions (SGB) has criticized the Federal Council's proposal to finance the 13th AHV pension solely by increasing VAT. In a statement, it called on parliament to correct this "antisocial mistake".
Instead of using salary contributions for financing, the Federal Council is relying exclusively on VAT and wants to reduce the federal share of AHV financing, the SGB continued.
However, the SGB believes that wage contributions would be justified for various reasons. Wage contributions have been reduced in recent years. Top earners in particular would have been relieved by the abolition of the solidarity percentage for unemployment insurance. Higher wage contributions would also provide some social balance, it continued.
