Money and a laptop: a man allegedly murdered an acquaintance in Ostermundigen BE around two years ago. The Bernese High Court is dealing with the case in the second instance.
The alleged perpetrator was sentenced to 16 years' imprisonment at first instance. The accused and the woman had been a couple for several months.
In August 2021, the two met and had sex. However, the court of first instance came to the conclusion that the man did not leave because he loved the woman, but because of a laptop and money.
A violent argument ensued. The man is said to have beaten, strangled and drowned the woman. The 20-year-old victim was found naked in the bathtub filled with water. The accused does not deny having killed the woman. The question of whether it was murder or intentional homicide is disputed.
