Hotel rooms in Basel almost fully booked during the ESC week

The Eurovision Song Contest from May 13 to 17, 2025 in Basel is casting its long shadow ahead: according to Basel Tourism, almost all hotel rooms in the city are already fully booked, as the MCH Group announced on Friday.
The three live shows, including two semi-finals and the final, will take place on May 13, 15 and 17 in the St. Jakobshalle. It offers space for around 12,000 spectators. The hall's load-bearing capacity must be specially reinforced for the technical facilities.
For the hotel and catering industry, staging the Eurovision Song Contest not only generates short-term income, but also increases Basel's attractiveness as a tourist destination in the long term, hotelier Raphael Wyniger and member of the MCH Group Board of Directors is quoted as saying in the communiqué issued by the trade fair organizer.
Conradin Cramer (LDP), President of the Basel government, is extremely happy about the decision. In a video on the website of the canton of Basel-Stadt, he even got carried away and danced on the steps of the town hall to the tune of the current winning song "The Code" by Nemo.
