18-year-old slightly injured in football violence in Sion

Before the championship match between FC Sion and FC Basel, groups of football supporters came to blows in Sion on Saturday afternoon. An 18-year-old Swiss man suffered minor injuries and had to be taken to hospital.
The course of events and background were unclear. The public prosecutor's office launched an investigation, as the Valais cantonal police announced on Saturday evening. The violence occurred at around 3.15 p.m. in the run-up to the match.
Security forces from the cantonal and regional police found two opposing groups and the injured man in the city center. The game ended in a 1:1 draw.
