The storm situation in Valais is gradually easing. The authorities lifted a flood warning for the Rhone on Thursday evening. The cantonal management body also announced that increased vigilance was no longer necessary for the tributaries.

The highest levels have been reached in the Rhone, according to the press release. The discharges should decrease during the course of the night. Despite the fall in water levels, the canton's experts recommended that people stay away from watercourses, avoid parking on bridges and move as little as possible over the next few hours and until Friday morning.

The section of road between Stalden and Saas-Balen will remain closed to traffic until further notice, it was reported. A landslide had buried the cantonal road in Saastal VS. Severe storms hit Valais again on Thursday. The authorities issued temporary warnings of flooding, riverbank collapses and mudslides in several regions.
