At its delegates' meeting in Wil SG on Saturday, the EPP Switzerland voted in favor of a uniform financing of healthcare services (Efas). The delegates decided not to vote on the amendment to the termination of personal use.

The Swiss EPP delegates had already rejected the federal resolution on the expansion of the national roads by a clear majority in June.

With 60 votes in favor, 6 against and 3 abstentions, the delegates voted in favour of the Efas proposal, as the party announced on Saturday. The reform was necessary to eliminate financial disincentives, which would enable both better care for patients and major cost savings for premium payers and cantons.

The changes to tenancy law that will be voted on in November were also discussed. The EPP recognizes the interests of property owners in their own use of a newly acquired property, it said. At the same time, the proposed regulation regarding termination for personal use could restrict the rights of tenants and possibly lead to more terminations.

A narrow majority of delegates voted in favor of the proposal. Subsequently, the motion to release the vote on the amendment to tenancy law regarding termination for personal use was clearly approved.

The delegates also voted against the amendment to tenancy law regarding subletting by 10 votes in favor, 55 against and 4 abstentions. It was argued that this was too much of an encroachment on tenants' rights.
