Following the "no" to the BVG reform, the Swiss Trade Association wants to advocate a gradual increase in the retirement age. An ambitious AHV reform is needed that takes demographic change into account. This would also strengthen the second pillar.
In a communiqué on Sunday, the Swiss Trade Association (SGV) accused the left of opposing the bill for ideological reasons. "The reform would have increased the employability of older workers and brought significant improvements, particularly for people with lower incomes and those working part-time."
The Swiss Employers' Association (SAV) also regretted the referendum's rejection. The desired stabilization of the second pillar had once again been missed. "Now those circles that fought against the modernization of the second pillar for political reasons will claim all the more loudly that the AHV needs to be expanded all the more urgently instead." This is what the employers wanted to counter."
The pension fund association Asip called for a standstill following the referendum. The association wrote that it took note of the "no" vote. However, this means that the backlog of reforms in the mandatory part of the occupational pension scheme will continue.
"Before new reforms are hastily demanded or even tighter regulatory shackles are placed on occupational pensions, the confidence in the second pillar, which was severely strained during the referendum campaign, must be sustainably strengthened," the communiqué continued. A comprehensive assessment of the situation is essential for this.
